This Crucifix is to help with contemplation of the suffering of Jesus on the Cross, depicting the instruments of His torture and death, the 5 wounds of Christ with an image of the Holy Face of Jesus above. On the back is written 'Amor meus crucifixus est' (My love is crucified).
John designed these crucifixes with the intention of the owner to focus their meditation of specific aspects of Christ and the Catholic Church.
